As the first week of school in Austin wraps up, I’m sure that most of the kids here would happily tell you that school is evil. It is a miserable, horrible place run by demonic instruments of torture known as teachers.  At least, that’s what I think most of the kids would say.
However, I [...]

Today I had wanted to talk about fan mail and list authors who answer fan mail and generally have a fan mail-tastic time.
Let’s just say that for me to do a post like that, I’ll need a lot more than the half hour I had allotted for research.  There isn’t already a resource out there [...]

I know we blab on and on about our favorite fantasy books. And yes, that can be irritating to those who prefer fact to fiction. But we can sometimes pull our heads out of the clouds long enough to appreciate a little reality, and to prove it, I wanted to mention a few great new [...]

The fall Kids’ Indie Next List has officially hit the BookPeople information desks. Previously known as BookSense, the program is run by the American Booksellers Assoc., a trade association geared towards promoting independent bookstores.

If you are antsy for the highly-anticipated release of Christopher Paolini’s third addition to his Inheritance Cycle, you have exactly one month left to wait — it releases on September 20. And if you are dying to meet Christopher Paolini, well, you only have to wait a little bit longer, because he will be at [...]

Our sister blog is up!

I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know that the other crazy folks at BookPeople (you know, the ones who prefer dealing with those books for “grown-ups”) have started a blog too. And although they are totally copying us (cuz we totally invented the internet), you definitely want to check them [...]
